How to install an agent skill
Most skills here install the same way. For Claude Code, put the folder that contains SKILL.md in ~/.claude/skills/ to use it everywhere, or in a project’s .claude/skills/ to scope it to that repo. Codex reads ~/.codex/skills/. Some authors also publish to the open skills registry, which installs with a single npx skills add command.
The agent reads each skill’s short description at startup and loads the full instructions only when a request matches, so an installed skill costs almost nothing until you ask for the kind of image it makes. Every detail page lists the method the author documents; when there is none, follow the repository README.
How skills get listed
We list a repository when it ships a real SKILL.md, its job is making or editing images or visual design, its README explains what it does, and it is an original project rather than a fork. Descriptions are written by PicGens after reading the source; stars, licence and last-push dates come from the GitHub API (last refreshed 2026-09-27).
Licences vary, and several popular skills ship without one — that means the author keeps all rights, so check before you redistribute a skill or its sample images. We only rehost a preview image when the licence allows it; otherwise the card shows GitHub’s own preview for the repository.
