About this skill
Canvas Design is one of the example skills Anthropic publishes alongside Claude’s skills system, and it is a useful model of how a design skill can work without any image model at all. Asked for a poster or a piece of visual art, the agent first writes a short “design philosophy” — effectively an invented aesthetic movement with its own rules — and saves it as a Markdown file.
It then expresses that philosophy on a canvas it draws with code, exporting a PNG or PDF that is overwhelmingly visual with only a small amount of text, set in fonts bundled with the skill. The instructions push the agent toward original compositions and away from imitating named artists. Because everything is rendered programmatically, results are crisp and editable rather than photographic, which makes the skill a good fit for typographic posters, abstract prints and conceptual layouts.
What it makes
A design-philosophy Markdown file and a poster or artwork as PNG or PDF.
