About this skill

STEM Illustration is aimed at the figures that science and engineering teaching depends on and that are tedious to draw by hand. It covers conceptual imagery across biology, medicine, chemistry, physics, engineering and mathematics: signalling pathways and cell structures, step-by-step experiment workflows, mechanism diagrams, plasmid maps, machine-learning architectures, academic posters and bilingual diagrams for classrooms that work in two languages.

The skill is organised around templates rather than free-form prompting. It ships 24 scene templates written as JSON, each describing the structure a particular kind of figure needs — what the parts are, how they relate, where labels go. On top of the template you choose one of four style variants: academic, for journal-like clarity; textbook, for teaching materials; infographic, for slides and social posts; and 3D render, for a more illustrative look. Templates make results more predictable and help the image model keep scientific structures in the right arrangement.

Rendering is done by a bundled Python script. It can call any OpenAI-compatible synchronous image API — GPT Image 2 is the example the author gives — or an asynchronous alternative service. You configure the endpoint, model name and API key in a local .env file copied from the example, so the costs and data handling are those of the provider you choose.

The skill takes a clear position on research integrity. It is for conceptual and educational illustration, and it explicitly refuses to use AI to fabricate figures that pretend to show real experimental data, such as gels, blots, microscopy or measurement plots. That is the right line for a tool that will inevitably be used near academic work.

The README is in Chinese. Installation means placing the folder in your agent’s skills directory and filling in the .env file. The repository has no licence file, so the author keeps all rights; use it for your own teaching and research figures, and ask before redistributing the skill or its templates.

What it makes

Scientific schematics, teaching illustrations and academic posters.

Before you install: An image API key (IMG_API_KEY) and Python.

How to install STEM Illustration

  1. 1.Configure the image API

Place the folder in your agent’s skills directory, then fill IMG_BASE_URL, IMG_MODEL and IMG_API_KEY in .env.

    cp .env.example .env
