About this skill
Ink Wash Poster brings the language of Chinese ink painting into contemporary editorial design. It takes a sentence, a mood, an object, an article idea or a reference photograph and produces a finished poster, vertical 4:5 by default, that looks like it was made with real ink on real paper rather than with a filter.
The art direction is built around how ink actually behaves. The skill asks for wet blooms where pigment spreads into damp paper, dry-brush breaks where the brush runs out, gradients made by diluting the same ink, and the visible fibres of the sheet. Negative space is treated as a compositional element with a job to do, not as emptiness to fill. Even the paper tone is chosen for the subject — a warm rice-paper cream for a teahouse, a cooler grey for a sea fog — instead of defaulting to white.
Typography is kept compact and is limited to wording you approve, which matters because image models tend to add invented text. If you supply a photo, the skill can reinterpret it in ink while keeping the subject, the pose or the horizon recognisable, so a picture of a particular mountain road still reads as that road.
The workflow has a built-in quality check. After generating, the skill reviews its own output against the brief; if the review fails, it makes one targeted regeneration rather than looping indefinitely. It then hands back the bitmap, the final prompt, the visual recipe it used and a short review note, so you can reproduce or adjust the result. A prompt-only mode is available if you would rather run the prompt in another tool.
The skill is released under the AGPL-3.0, a copyleft licence: you can use and modify it, but if you distribute a modified version, or offer it to others as a network service, you must share your changes under the same licence. READMEs are available in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, and installation is a single git clone into your Codex skills folder.
