About this skill

Oriental Editorial Poster (东方文化编辑海报) is a skill for quiet, confident posters and publication covers on Chinese cultural subjects. It avoids the clichés that usually come with “oriental” design — generic dragons, lanterns, red and gold — and instead grounds each piece in one concrete, real material detail: the fibres of a sheet of handmade paper, the depth of a lacquer surface, the bite of a piece of metal type, the texture of an archive box.

Around that detail it composes a short title that actually interacts with the image rather than sitting on top of it, and uses empty space deliberately, as part of the design rather than as leftover room. The result is closer to a museum catalogue or a literary magazine than to a festival flyer. Creative title treatments are encouraged: characters may be cropped, stacked, set into the material or aligned with a line in the photograph.

One of its most useful features is the triptych. Instead of producing a single poster and asking whether you like it, the skill can lay out three distinct directions side by side as an A/B/C comparison, so you can choose a route before any time is spent refining. This mirrors how a design studio presents options to a client and makes the conversation with the agent much more productive.

The skill depends on a strong image model. It expects a model of GPT Image 2 class, either built into your agent or configured through an API backend. Without one it still works, but only as a planner: it will give you prompts and layout plans to run elsewhere.

It belongs to the author’s FANTASY series, together with Photo Revival and Fantasy Movie Poster. The repository has no licence file, so all rights are reserved by default; use it for your own work and ask the author before redistributing it. Install it manually by placing the downloaded folder in your skills directory as oriental-editorial-poster, which is also the name you call it by.
